Del Mar Kitchen Transformation

Del Mar Village, San Diego

Square Feet 850
Completed Nov 2023
Budget $118K

Project Overview

Bright modern kitchen featuring white shaker cabinets with distinctive copper leather-pull hardware and a striking white hexagonal tile backsplash. The design centers on a large white marble waterfall island with natural wood base and seating for four, creating a warm transitional aesthetic perfect for daily family use and entertaining.

Scope of Work

  • Custom white shaker cabinets with soft-close doors and copper leather-pull hardware
  • White marble countertops with waterfall edge on island
  • Large-format white hexagonal tile backsplash installation
  • Natural walnut wood island base with modern detailing
  • Stainless steel professional-grade range hood
  • Brushed nickel faucets and sink fixtures
  • Wood bar stools with rounded seats for island seating (4)
  • Glass-front upper cabinets for display
  • Open wood shelving for everyday dishware and decor
  • Panel-integrated appliances for seamless appearance

Design Details

The copper leather-pull hardware was a custom selection that adds warmth to the all-white palette. The hexagonal backsplash creates visual interest without overwhelming the space, while the natural walnut island base introduces organic texture that prevents the kitchen from feeling too clinical.

Client Testimonial

"We wanted bright and clean but not cold. Our designer nailed it with the wood island base and copper hardware—those details make it feel custom, not cookie-cutter. The hexagon tile was my favorite splurge. Eight weeks from start to finish, and we stayed in the house the whole time. Seamless process."

  • White waterfall island with seating for four on wood bar stools
  • Matte black pendant lights and ceiling-mounted fixtures
  • Wide-plank light oak flooring throughout main living areas

Design Philosophy

Indoor-Outdoor Living: The centerpiece of this remodel is the massive sliding glass door system that completely opens the living room to the backyard. On warm days, the 16-foot opening creates one continuous entertaining space spanning 900 square feet.

Natural Materials: We balanced modern minimalism with warmth by incorporating natural wood and stone throughout. The wood accent wall adds texture and visual interest while maintaining clean lines.

Client Testimonial

"We bought this house for the location but dreaded the dark, choppy interior. Keystone's design opened everything up completely. The wood wall and glass doors transformed how we live—we entertain constantly now. The attention to detail on the millwork and material selection made this remodel feel truly custom."
